2023 Finishes

Lone Star Quilt

I made the star using English Paper Piecing and a 2.5 roll of rainbow Kona Cotton. I started in the center and sewed the diamonds in the color order they were arranged in. I was delighted with how the colors sorted themselves. I used the cast offs from my Exploding Heart Quilt quarter square triangles to serve as a border. I’m extremely please with how the quilting came out on this quilt. I’m planning to use it as my June background for Zoom. (Also, I swear there is binding on it IRL, but it was too much of a pain to try to photograph again.)

Ice Cream Soda Quilt

Ages ago, my aunt connected with her friend Tammy. Tammy had a quilt kit she wanted made, but couldn’t find anyone to make it for her. The reason was pretty obvious once I saw the quilt. It was 30+ unique quilt blocks that were mostly triangles. I came to call the quilt Death By Triangles. After I finished, I still had a LOT of fabric leftover, so I thought it would be fun to use it in an English Paper Piecing Project. I managed to make almost the whole quilt from the leftovers from that quilt kit. I had to buy bit more for the background/borders and bit more blue that I used in the binding. I used scraps from other projects for the binding.

Another Bag

I got to join a quilt swap!!! I’ve always wanted to a swap, so I brought it up to my friends in the Quilt Your Life Crew. Those women are magic! In less than a week, we had a swap put together. I had the pleasure of being paired with my pal Hilary. I shamelessly stalked her Insta for color preferences and then used Kate Basti’s Tall Tales block with Center Street Quilts Holland Pouch pattern to make this guy.
